About ThermoVault

A Swiss manufacturer for pharmaceutical cold-chain packaging

ThermoVault Pharma Logistics AG builds thermal containers, cooler bags, and temperature data loggers in the canton of Zürich. We sell to pharmaceutical manufacturers, hospital pharmacies, diagnostic laboratories, clinical trial sponsors, and healthcare logistics providers across Switzerland and the EU.

We would rather ask about your route than sell you a container that passes a lab test and fails a Tuesday morning delivery.

That sentence explains most of how this company works. The sections below cover where we came from, what we build, who builds it, and what we will and will not claim about our products.

How the company started

Lane-specific documentation from day one

ThermoVault grew out of a practical problem. Pharmaceutical shippers were being qualified for one lane and then reused on another, with no documentation to show whether the second lane was actually covered. Packaging engineers and clinical logistics people kept meeting the same gap from opposite sides: the box worked, the paperwork did not follow it.

The founding team came from those two worlds. The first product was a rigid container with a qualification report written for a specific hospital delivery route rather than a generic test case.

What changed in how we quote

A quote starts with your route, not with a catalog page. We ask which product travels, how long the door-to-door leg takes, what ambient conditions apply in July and in January, and who signs for the shipment on arrival. The container recommendation follows those answers.

Why that matters to an auditor

When a qualification report names the lane it covers, your quality team can show which configuration was validated for which delivery. Reusing a container on an undocumented route is exactly the situation the founding team set out to remove.

Manufacturing in the canton of Zürich

Our workshop and assembly site are in the canton of Zürich. Foam molding, panel assembly, PCM pack filling, and final validation all happen on the same site, which keeps the supply chain short and change control tight. When a customer needs a custom internal dimension, the change is a production adjustment rather than a sourcing project across three subcontractors.

Keeping manufacturing in Switzerland also means our documentation is produced under one quality system, which simplifies audit support for customers who need a single traceable chain from material batch to finished unit.

Foam molding

Insulation bodies and internal shapes are molded here, so a new internal dimension is a mold adjustment we control.

Panel assembly

Rigid walls, seals, and closures are assembled and checked on site before a unit enters the validation step.

PCM pack filling

Phase-change packs are filled and conditioned in-house, so we can document the conditioning your depot has to repeat.

The engineering and quality team

Our team combines packaging engineers, a quality function, and cold-chain specialists who handle lane configuration and customer qualification support. The quality function owns the ISO management systems, the calibration schedule, and the qualification report library.

The specialists are the people who reply to quote requests, and they are the same people who write the lane-specific reports. That overlap is deliberate: the person who configures your lane is the person who documents it.

Packaging engineering

Wall thickness, seal geometry, payload fit, and reusability under repeated conditioning cycles.

Quality and calibration

Management systems, the calibration schedule for loggers and probes, and the report library.

Cold-chain specialists

Lane configuration, seasonal conditioning advice, and qualification support for your team.

Audit support

Traceable documentation from material batch through assembly, filling, and final validation.

What we manufacture and what we do not

Being clear about this boundary matters. A supplier who claims to cover everything usually covers nothing in detail. Our role is to supply packaging and monitoring that performs as documented, plus the evidence to prove it.

We manufacture and supply

  • Thermal containers — rigid vacuum-insulated and foam-bodied units with qualification reports for the lanes they cover.
  • Cooler bags — soft-sided carriers for short, controlled legs such as ward transfers and same-day lab runs.
  • PCM packs — phase-change packs filled and conditioned on site, with conditioning instructions for your depot.
  • Temperature data loggers — reusable and single-use monitoring devices, supplied with calibration certificates where applicable.

We do not

  • Operate a logistics network or a fleet. Freight and in-transit tracking belong to your logistics provider.
  • Act as a freight forwarder or take over customs brokerage for your shipments.
  • Make the disposition decision when a shipment goes out of range. That decision belongs to your qualified person.
  • Issue a compliance claim we cannot support with a document. If a standard does not apply to a model, we say so.

Our position on documentation

Every catalog configuration ships with a qualification report, and every reusable logger ships with a calibration certificate. Where a customer's lane differs from the catalog case, we produce a lane-specific report rather than stretching the catalog one.

We publish certificate scopes on the Quality & Certifications page so a reviewer can verify them without a phone call. If a standard does not apply to a model, we say so instead of implying coverage.

Customers and sectors we serve

Our customers work in pharmaceutical manufacturing, hospital pharmacy, diagnostic laboratory operations, clinical trial supply, and healthcare third-party logistics. The common thread is a regulated product that must arrive inside a labeled temperature range, with a record that survives an audit.

Shipment volumes range from a few containers a month for a single research site to recurring fleet supply for a multi-site hospital network. We quote both sizes on the same terms: same documentation, same qualification support, same response times.

  • Pharmaceutical manufacturing sites
  • Hospital pharmacies and wards
  • Diagnostic laboratory operations
  • Clinical trial sponsors and depots
  • Healthcare third-party logistics
  • Research sites and university clinics

B2B terms and how we work with procurement

We ship from Zürich across Switzerland and the EU on ex-works or delivered duty paid terms, with pallet and parcel options. Custom configurations are quoted with a lead time confirmed at order acknowledgement, and recurring fleet supply can be scheduled to match your depot and ward cycles.

For procurement departments

Supplier declarations, tax residency certificates, and bank confirmations are issued by our administrative team on request. Custom internal dimensions carry a minimum order quantity and added lead time, both confirmed in writing before production starts.

Swiss entity and legal transparency

ThermoVault Pharma Logistics AG is registered in Switzerland. Our legal form, UID number, registered address, and commercial register entry are published on the Impressum page, as Swiss company law requires.

Website data handling is described in the Privacy Policy, and cookie usage is detailed in the Cookie Policy. We keep those pages current because transparency about who is behind the business is part of operating in a regulated supply chain.

Where we are going

Our focus for the coming period is on two things: expanding the qualification report library for controlled ambient lanes, and improving the conditioning documentation that depots use every day.

Both come from the same observation, which is that most in-range failures we see are process failures rather than equipment failures. If you have a lane that keeps producing near-miss excursions, that is the kind of problem we want to look at.

Questions we get asked

Short answers to the three points that come up most often in first conversations with new customers and their quality teams.

Do you operate your own logistics network?

No. We manufacture packaging and monitoring devices and supply the documentation to support them. Freight and in-transit tracking are handled by your logistics provider.

Where are your products manufactured?

Our workshop and assembly site are in the canton of Zürich, Switzerland, where foam molding, panel assembly, PCM pack filling, and final validation take place under one quality system.

Can you supply a custom container for a specific kit size?

Yes, within our tooling range. Custom internal dimensions add lead time and carry a minimum order quantity, which we confirm in writing before production.

Tell us about the lane you are trying to qualify

Send the route, the product, and the temperature range you need to hold. A cold-chain specialist will reply with a configuration and the documentation that comes with it — or tell you plainly if we are not the right supplier for that lane.
